THE “POTTKIND”

…Has been located in Cologne's Südstadt district since 2018. The owners are Enrico and Lukas, two natives of the Ruhr region (which explaines the name), who met as colleagues in the kitchen in Cologne in 2012. Together, they bring their very own "Childhoof cuisine"—the essence of the diverse influences of the Ruhr area—to the table in Cologne. All this comes with warm hospitality in a cozy atmosphere and friendly service.

…contemporary fine dining that isn't defined solely by its cuisine. Besides a clean, minimalist culinary style, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, thoughtful details, and complete openness in all work areas characterize the Pottkind experience. Cuisine, service, and hospitality seamlessly and harmoniously intertwine.

 

THE STYLE OF COOKINg

… works without a menu. Instead, POTTKIND gives you a carte blanche experience. The sequence of courses arises spontaneously – from the available ingredients, the season, and the chef's expertise. What is served is not a concept for its own sake, but rather a clear, thoughtful cuisine that leaves room for curiosity and enjoyment. The menu changes approximately six times a year to reflect seasonal availability.

 

ART, MUSIC & LOVING DETAILS…

…like the carefully selected tableware, these elements are integral to the concept. The artwork on the walls, the choice of plates, and the background music change regularly. All of this is designed to inspire, keep things engaging, and create a constantly evolving experience – for guests as well as for the team.

Our menus consist of six courses, plus a few delightful little extras before, between, and after.

The menus change several times a year, reflecting the seasonal availability of ingredients. We use top-quality products to create distinctive dishes, carefully coordinated by our head chef, Enrico Sablotny, and his team.

The menu costs 135,-€

 

CAN I SEE THE CURRENT MENU SOMEWHERE?

No, “Carte Blanche” also means that the menu isn't available to view beforehand. Our service team, led by host Lukas Winkelmann, will explain the dishes in detail as they are served.

At the end, however, you'll receive everything written down to take home, allowing you to review the evening and the dishes at your leisure.

 

FOOD INTOLERANCES? ALLERGIES? PREGNANT? VEGETARIAN?

Usually, it's not a problem. We frequently have guests with food intolerances or allergies. Adapting our menus accordingly is usually no problem.

It's important that we receive the relevant information. You can leave this information during the online reservation process or send it to us again via email HERE.

In more complex cases, we will always get back to you; please feel free to leave a phone number for this purpose. We have pregnant guests almost daily and know very well what is and isn't permitted.

We always offer a vegetarian menu. Pescatarian or carnivore menus are also possible. Just leave us a note accordingly. We do not offer vegan menus. Once a year in springtime, we also offer a completely vegetarian menu cycle.

There are two beverage pairing options:

The classic wine pairing with each course of the menu. We put a lot of effort into the selection and always try to complement, enhance, or even contrast the culinary focus of the menu with the chosen wines.

The wine pairing is served in six 0.1l glasses and costs €70.

Completely alcohol-free. We produce beverages that reflect the flavors of the cuisine, presenting a diverse and exciting alcohol-free menu pairing.

A chef´s table…

…Combined with a bar counter creates the “Chef´s Bar. What is now the most popular spot at Pottkind was custom made from a big old red oak tree of Cologne's city forest.

Off course we put a lot of effort not only in the design but the seating comfort, as well. So, in addition to unique views into the Michelin-starred kitchen, there are also backrests, footrests, and coat hooks, that won´t make you feel like sitting in a pub.

Comfort like at a regular table – but with exclusive views. That´s the Chef's Bar….

 

CAN I BOOK THE CHEF´S BAR DIRECTLY?

Yes and no. We usually have more requests than available seats. Therefore, we can never guarantee your preferred seat, but we always do our best, and it usually works out.

Sometimes, upon arrival at Pottkind, you can choose your seat and decide spontaneously.

Because seating at the bar is limited to sitting next to each other, we won´t normally place more than 2- party guests at the bar.

Off course we can accommodate more upon request, but for groups of four or more, it's simply more convivial at a table.

We can't guarantee anything, but we'll do our best to accommodate your wishes.

If you are unable to sit on high chairs due to physical limitations, please let us know.

When the weather is nice, we open our terrace in front of the restaurant in the heart of the vibrant Südstadt district and reserve outdoor seating for all guests.
